RAUTERPARK NOMINATED FOR BRUSSELS ARCHITECTURE PRIZE 2025
Our project Rauterpark Anderlecht is among the nominees for the Brussels Architecture Prize 2025, category small intervention.
REVIVING DUIVELSTEEN
Residents and visitors of Ghent have already noticed: noAarchitecten is working on a thorough restoration and repurposing of the historic Duivelsteen into a youth platform. The works will continue until the summer of 2026.
LECTURE IAF x HOUSE EUROPE! DAY IN DUBLIN
An Fonteyne will speak in Dublin on October 16 as part of the New Now Next Talks of the Irish Architecture Foundation and Open House Dublin, Ireland’s largest festival of architecture.
HET STEEN SHORTLISTED FOR THE BIGMAT INTERNATIONAL ARCHITECTURE AWARD
Out of more than 650 entries from across Europe, our project Het Steen has been shortlisted for this international architecture award. The official finalist announcement will follow in September.
SPECIAL LECTURE – ARCHITECTURE FOR HERITAGE BOLOGNA
In October Philippe Viérin will give a lecture about our approach to heritage for the YACademy in Bologna.
HOLCIM FOUNDATION FELLOWSHIP – BRUSSELS – ETH ZURICH
noAarchitecten is a partnering firm together with &bogdan, Democo Group, 51N4E and Whitewood for the upcoming ETH Zürich-hosted two-week course by the Holcim Foundation on ‘Design Incentives for Change’ that will take place September 1-12 in Brussels.
TEACHING ASSIGNMENT AY 25/26 – POLITECNICO DI MILANO
During the upcoming academic year 2025-2026 and at the invitation of professor Michele Giovanni Caja, Philippe Viérin will be visiting professor at the Politecnico di Milano. Students will focus on the European Quarter in Brussels and work on the transformation of office buildings into residential or mixed-use projects, exploring their potential relations with Milan’s rich architectural culture.
DE ZOMER VAN AN FONTEYNE
An Fonteyne will be a guest on the radio programme ‘De zomer van’ with radio producer Evert Venema (VRT Radio 1) on Wednesday 16 July, where she will be looking for songs about ‘discomfort’.
ONLINE LECTURE KEIO UNIVERSITY
An Fonteyne will give an online lecture on 15 July at the invitation of Hiromi Hosoya (Keio University). The lecture will address the ability of design to deal with the ecological, social, economic, and aesthetic challenges of today’s cities.
RESTRUCTURE REMATERIALIZE RETHINK REUSE — ICSA 2025
On the occasion of of the ICSA2025 Conference in Antwerp, An Fonteyne will give a keynote lecture entitled ‘Affective Architectures’ on noAarchitecten, the agency of the architect and architecture, exploring the potential to affect and be affected.
KANAL BRUSSELS – THE WILD BEYOND
An Fonteyne will give a lecture on the Kanal project as part of the fifth symposium of the Museumsrunde Berlin. The theme of this year is ‘Was Draus Bauen?!’. The symposium takes place on 26 and 27 June in the Berlinische Galerie.
SUMMER EXHIBITION ROYAL ACADEMY LONDON
A photograph by Kim Zwarts of our intervention at Het Steen features at the Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition. The work is on display in Gallery VI. The exhibition runs from 17 June until 17 August 2025 at Burlington House.
HET STEEN WINS THE EUROPEAN AWARD AHI 2025 – BUILT HERITAGE CATEGORY
We’re very happy and proud that our project Het Steen was chosen by an international jury as the winner of the biennial European Award AHI for Built Heritage. Congratulations as well to all other winning projects!
LECTURE DOPPEL DER UMBAUKULTUREN
On 5 June Philippe Viérin will lecture and dialog with Dimitri Minten and Tim Vekemans of RE-ST on cultures of reuse at the invitation of the BDA Aachen and the Department of Architecture at the FH Aachen. The lecture will take place at 19.00 in Haus Löwenstein.
JOS. BEDAUX LECTURE
On April 17th, 2025, the second Jos. Bedaux lecture took place in the Cobbenhagen building at Tilburg University. Philippe Viérin gave a lecture on the work of noAarchitecten in relation to that of architect Jos Bedaux, and discussed the architectural generative similarities between the post-war reconstruction architecture of Bedaux, and grandfather Luc and great-grandfather Jos Viérin.
PUBLICATION ARCHITHESE BELGIEN
Edition 04.2024 of Archithese is contributed to Belgian architecture and features Kanal as one of the key projects. The article ‘Reassembling the Urban’ by Tom Avermaete gives furter insight into our approach of implementation and preservation.
PUBLICATION EU MIES AWARDS 2024
As one of the 40 shortlisted projects for the EU Mies Awards 2024, Het Steen is featured among exceptional European architecture in the publication. Read more about the transformation of Antwerp’s historic building in the article, which explores the thoughtful integration of an extension to a building with rich heritage.
LECTURE CHARACTER – EXACTITUDE AND AMIBIGUITY
In times when everything is shifting, reflecting on traditional principles in architecture becomes increasingly challenging. The architectural relevance of the concept of character, as discussed from the 18th century onwards, certainly deserves reconsideration. An Fonteyne questions the spatial meaning of buildings in a lecture for Architektur Forum Ostschweiz in St Gallen.

On 22 October Philippe Viérin talked about Kanal, together with Daniel Niggli and alongside Yves Goldstein and Kristiaan Borret in the S AM Swiss Architecture Museum in Basel. You can watch the lecture here.
