Prominent in the background
The emblematic City Hall will once again become the city’s most public building. This is the central place where a visit to the city services begins. Appropriately in second line, but nevertheless clearly present, we see the new City Office.
City garden as a natural buffer
The old Parsonage Garden separates and connects. Like the typical monastery garden with pledge corridor, the surrounding functions are scattered, well connected, but also aware of their own position in the day-to-day functioning of the community.
The New Way of Working
Flexibility and freedom of interpretation is a must for a good office building, but it is not enough. We design a city office like a big house, cosy, with generous spaces, lots of light and nice warm materials.
Prominent in the foreground
The interplay of foreground and background describes how architect Jos Viérin composed the ensemble of public buildings a hundred years ago for the heart of Nieuwpoort. The new municipal office can occupy both positions. It shows itself confidently and marks the corner of the extended town hall ensemble.
