PODCAST STIJN STREUVELS
Philippe Viérin collaborated on a podcast about Stijn Streuvels for the radio station Klara. The writer asked Philippe’s grandfather in 1903 to design his new house. Streuvels lived and wrote there for the rest of his life and named the house ‘Het Lijsternest’.
KORTRIJK CREATIVITY WEEK, HANGAR K
On the 28th of October 2021, Philippe Viérin participates in a lecture and debate about the position of the campus in the city.
He will testify about the insights of noAarchitecten in designing educational institutions in different locations, about the attitude and consultation with many stakeholders, when realising an educational building in relation to its urban environment.
One of the examples explained is the transformation of the old prison in Hasselt into the Faculty of Law for Hasselt University.

On the 1st of December 2021, Philippe Viérin will give a lecture entitled ‘Reading Place’ at the Technische Universität Darmstadt. The lecture is part of the ’50 Jahre Positionen’ series which will take place on Wednesday evenings throughout the winter of 2021/2022.

In the week of the 15th of March, An Fonteyne, together with a group of female students and assistants of D-ARCH will take over the Instagram account of Women in Architecture Belgium.
AN IMPORTANT YEAR FOR KANAL
We are happy to end the year 2020 with important milestones for KANAL, the future museum of modern and contemporary art for Brussels. The building permission was obtained end of December. The team of Atelier Kanal have published the tender documentation for Lot 3, the main architectural package for Kanal, on the 16th of November. Demolition works have started and will continue while we await tender returns in February 2021. An overview on the progress of KANAL is on display in the exhibition Atelier KANAL in Brussels, open to the public until the 25th of April 2021.
PLAATS / PLACE IN THE MEDIA
The book Place, written by Philippe Viérin, has received signs of appreciation in recent media. Philippe was invited to discuss Place in ‘Pompidou’, the daily show of national radio station KLARA on all art related subjects. The interview with Philippe can be listened to here. A review has been published in issue 208 of De Witte Raaf. Written by Maarten Liefooghe, the review appreciates Philippe’s personal evaluation and anekdotes on reconstruction after World War 1 and working with difficult heritage sites in general.
